Taza Aya completes human-centered usability testing of its wearable air curtain with leading poultry processor

Taza Aya, a device company pioneering the future of air curtain breathing solutions for workers and consumers, today announced the completion of a human-centered usability study for its groundbreaking Worker Wearable device. Conducted in partnership with Michigan Turkey Producers, a leading North American processor of farm-raised
turkeys, the study assessed the device’s usability, ergonomics, and overall effectiveness. The study was conducted with oversight from Castle IRB.

The Worker Wearable device features a non-thermal plasma reactor and an air curtain, creating a barrier of air encircling the wearer’s face. This innovative solution aims to
enhance the safety and efficiency of poultry processing workers by offering respiratory protection with numerous advantages over cloth face coverings.

“The Worker Wearable device proved to be well-equipped to tackle the challenges found in poultry and meat processing,” said Herek Clack, Co-Founder of Taza Aya.

Key insights from the study include:

  • Enhanced Comfort and Communication: 100% of participants reported improved
breathing, communication, and visibility over wearing facemasks.
  • Maintained or Increased Productivity: All participants found productivity levels to be
    equal to or slightly improved.
  • Preference Over Traditional Masks: Over 71% of participants expressed a preference
for wearing the Worker Wearable device.

Participant feedback highlighted the device’s practical benefits, such as preventing spice dust from obstructing vision and maintaining overall hygiene. One user noted, “The air curtain blocked all the dust from the spice bags, keeping spice dust off my glasses, face, and out of my eyes.”

“We are pleased with the study results as we embark on this journey,” said Alberto Elli, CEO of Taza Aya. “This real-world product and user testing experience will help us successfully launch the Worker Wearable in 2025.”
